• Overall Look and Feel: The Nexus is sleek and smooth, with a leathery back to keep it from slipping right out of your hands. It’s light as well, roughly half of the weight of the iPad, so it’s easy to tote around. The Google Nexus 7 LCD screen is…what else but…7-inches. The 1280×800 IPS touch screen is sans retina display, but we’re ok with that.

• Hardware and Functionality: This Android device is well-designed and comes with powerful hardware, thanks to Asus. The tablet responds smoothly to touch, even when scrolling, playing games and even HD movies. The battery life is pretty good, coming in at about 7.5 hours (assuming you’re not streaming the full LOTR trilogy) under normal user scenarios.

• Other Perks and Notable Mentions: The tablet comes with voice- command search, has a 1.2-megapixel camera (front-facing only), and boasts the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean system. Overall, the device is very user-friendly.

This is a great device for anyone looking for an affordable, quality tablet that can fit most purses, messenger bags, and even perhaps your pocket. The Nexus 7 might just be the best tablet thus far. And, starting at £159 for the 16GB, it’s a great deal.
